Answers to common questions about the app.
Golf Rules helps you learn the Rules of Golf through flashcards, scored quiz rounds, and Ace, an AI rules official you can ask questions in plain English. This page covers the questions we hear most.
Each profile has a name and a picked avatar icon, useful if more than one person shares a device. Profiles, quiz scores, and progress are all stored on the device itself. Switch between profiles from the icon in the top corner of any tab.
Open the profile switcher from the header and remove the profile from there. This also removes that profile's saved quiz progress.
Rules are grouped into categories you can flip through like flashcards, covering everything from the basics to relief procedures and special situations.
Each quiz round is scored like a 9-hole round of golf: answer correctly on the first try for a birdie, on the second try for a bogey, or miss twice for a double bogey. Your round score is the total relative to par.
Score well enough on a category's current tier and the next tier unlocks for that category. Your best score and unlocked tiers per category are visible on the Progress tab.
The Ruling tab lets you type a golf-rules question in plain English and get an answer from Ace, an AI rules official, with the relevant rule cited. It's built to answer rules questions specifically, not general golf or other topics.
Each profile can ask a limited number of questions per day. This keeps the feature sustainable, since each question is answered by a paid AI service behind the scenes. The limit resets daily.
Ace needs an internet connection to reach its backend. Check your connection and try again. If it keeps failing with a connection present, it may be a temporary backend issue on our end rather than your device.
See the Privacy Policy for exactly what's sent, to whom, and what's stored.
Not currently. Profiles and progress live only on the device they were created on.
All profiles, scores, and progress are removed along with the app, since none of it is stored anywhere else.
